Athens Greece Vacation Guide
Athens should not be left in Greece holidays. First, is the capital of this beautiful country, and therefore one of the main attractions of the earth. Athens is a city of about 3.7 million. The city is also regarded as the cradle of the nation as a whole and therefore also the cradle of Western civilization. At the foot of the hill of the Acropolis are places to visit. These are the districts of Plaka, Monastiraki and Thissio. Noticeable in these districts are the restored 19th century neoclassical homes, restaurants and picturesque ruins of the Roman city.
Another place to visit in Athens, Piraeus is the port of the ancient city. This port is still a center for industrial products and Greece. He is also the ferry to Crete and connections in the islands, and almost all of Attica can be found. Tourists can go to the city’s business district, the Syntagma Square. A history of the place, is the former royal palace. This is also where most major hotels, banks, restaurants and other offices of the note was found.
Getting In
Getting to Athens is quite appropriate to make the Greek capital. This is especially true for tourists from other countries to arrive by plane. The city has the new Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, which opened in 2001. It is located only 27 miles from downtown and the east has become more attractive and efficient to enter Greece. The new airport has excellent public transport networks that can connect the tourists who arrive at various points around the city.
From the airport, tourists can enter the city center by subway, city rail system. The airport of the city, metro line 3, is the extension that leads to the central station of Syntagma and Monastiraki. There are also buses and taxis operating from the airport to the city.
If from other regions of Greece, there are regional buses that connect Athens to other cities in Greece. There is also a national rail service that connects the various Greek cities such as Athens. Public transport in Athens is considered relatively inexpensive system with a simplified ticketing enabling passengers to travel on all modes of public transport.
A visit to Athens in Greece should not be a problem in terms of transport because they are readily available in the city.
